Liposuction: The Super-Wet Method

Liposuction has become a way for patients to shape their bodies into a more physically appealing form. Basically the procedure involves the surgeon removing fat deposits from unwanted areas of the body. There are many procedures a surgeon could use to perform this procedure. The super-wet method of liposuction is just another one of those methods. It has its advantages, and yet this form of liposuction, like any other, carries its own possible risks and complications.

Before deciding to undergo any type of cosmetic surgery, please consult with a doctor. CLICK HERE to find a doctor near you.

To look at the super-wet method for liposuction, we must first look at the tumescent technique. This procedure actually takes longer for the doctor to perform; however this has proven to be a safer technique than the traditional methods. The tumescent technique is where a large volume of liquid is injected into the fatty deposits in order to remove the fat. The super wet method is very similar to the tumescent, however less fluid is used. The amount of fluid used, is usually the same amount of fat that will be removed. However, there is more blood loss with the super-wet method than with the tumescent technique. In fact, approximately 8% of the fluid removed through super-wet is blood, unlike the tumescent technique where only 1% of the fluid removed is blood. The advantage here is that the procedure only takes one to two hours to perform, unlike the tumescent which could take four to five hours. Plus since there is less chance of too much fluid being introduced into the body, super-wet liposuction is safer than the tumescent method.

During consultation, these are some questions you could consider askingothe doctor: "What type of technique do you use for liposuction?" and/or "How long have you been using this technique?"
