On tonight's episode of Extreme Makeover™ the television series, an aspiring actress is looking for that extra star power. The other is a country fiddler who cannot play to the best of her abilities because of her excess neck skin. Plus a new plastic surgeon joins "The Extreme Team," Dr. Barbara Hayden.
Kristi is 22 years old, from Fresno, California. She teaches and performs the violin/fiddle. However, her chin gets in the way of the fiddle and cannot play as well as she should. This affects her teaching and the public performances she often gives. Kristi does not want to have to worry about her neck. Her brow also concerns her because she feels it looks like a man's brow. She also feels her nose is like a pig's nose. Kristi wants to be normal. She met her husband on the Internet, and it was a romantic ride, but now it is a "rocky road."
Then during one of Kristi's public performances, the announcement was made public that she would be chosen to get a makeover.
Kristi goes to Los Angeles to the Makeover Mansion, and the next day meets with plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Perlman. Kristi tells the doctor about her biggest concern, her neck. Dr. Perlman informs Kristi that he can take the fat out and put in a chin implant so that the chin will project better and the neck will look better. A browlift is also discussed to make Kristi look more rested and alert.
Dr. Perlman shows Kristi a computer-generated image of what she could like after surgery and she was amazed. This is something Kristi has wanted for so long and cannot wait to be beautiful. Surgery is the next day.
Kristi's surgery included:
- Liposuction of the neck
- Chin implant
Both the neck liposuction and the chin implant help strengthen the jawline.
- Brow lift – to awaken Kristi's tired look and make her look alert, younger and feminine.
- Buccal fat pad extraction – to remove those chubby cheeks
- Rhinoplasty – to thin Kristi's nose.
- Breast lift
- Tummy tuck
- Liposuction of the legs
- Liposuction of the stomach
After a week of healing, Kristi returns to Dr. Perlman's office. She is amazed by the new look she sees in the mirror. Her chin actually fits her face now.
During her two-month makeover, Kristi also had her teeth whitened. She also lost 22 pounds and went from a size 12 to a size 6.
Now it was stylist Sam Saboura's turn to help Kristi. Kristi's body now has curves and now she wants to show them off. Sam helps her find clothing that will help achieve that. Then while getting her hair done, Kristi is upset that her long hair will be shortened. But when the final results were revealed, Kristi was overwhelmed. Looking in the mirror, Kristi could not believe that was her reflection.
Now after two months, Kristi returned home to reveal her new look to her friends and family. She could not wait to see her husband's jaw drop, and he could not believe Kristi's new look. Kristi is not uncomfortable anymore.
However, there was one more surprise. Leann Rhimes makes an appearance on the show to tell Kristi that they will be playing together at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Through this experience, Kristi was able to fulfill her dreams.
