On tonight's episode of Extreme Makeover™ the television series, an "extreme" woman gets a make-under, while her boyfriend also undergoes a mini makeover. Then a recent college graduate looks to get her makeover and start her career.
Jeanene is a punk rocker looking to go mainstream. She is a 31 year old factory worker from Louisville, KY. She craves a normal life and wants to do things better for herself. Jeanene has 30 body piercings and has been stretching her ears for five years, this has resulted in a large hole in her earlobes. Her boyfriend, Billy is not a mainstream person either. During a performance at a punk rock hot spot, Billy stops the show and announces that Jeanene is going to get a makeover.
In Los Angeles, Dr. Fisher meets with Jeanene. He finds that the hole in her earlobes is ¾ of an inch. Closing up the hole will be a first for Dr. Fisher. They also discuss the asymmetrical breasts, where one is significantly larger than the other. Refining Jeanene's nose will also take some planning for Dr. Fisher.
On the morning of surgery, Jeanene tries to play it cool. But at Dr. Fisher's office, she begins to find the situation a little overwhelming.
For Jeanene's make-under, she received:
- Breast augmentation - to help balance her uneven breasts to a symmetrical size C.
- Rhinoplasty – the tip of the nose was refined without taking away any of Jeanene's Italian heritage.
- Ear lobe reconstruction – for this surgery, the lower lobes' blood supply had to be maintained but suddenly, it was losing blood profusely. Using his skills, Dr. Fisher staunches and closes the ears. A whole new ear is created.
A week later, it was time to take the bandages off. Jeanene's profile now looks good and her breasts are now the same size. During the visit, Jeanene's in tears and shows that she's really thankful that Dr. Fisher could help her out.
While Jeanene's getting her makeover, her boyfriend Billy is getting a mini-makeover. Sam Saboura will help Billy go a little bit mainstream and surprise Jeanene during her makeover reveal.
As for Jeanene, next up was a visit with Dr. Ava Shamban. Jeanene has always been trying to keep the hair on her face hidden. Dr. Shamban tells her that some hair follicles will be removed through laser hair removal. Four to eight treatments will be needed for that area.
Billy meets with fitness expert Michael Thurmond to help him get some of the weight off. In eight days, Billy lost 10 inches. Then cosmetic dentist Dr. Bill Dorfman used porcelain veneers to help Billy gain a perfect smile almost instantly. While on his "secret" mini-makeover, Billy still talks to Jeanene on the phone, but he has to make up stories of where he's at and not ruin the surprise. Finally Billy has his hair done, and having his long hair cut short.
Jeanene also has her hair done, but not before meeting with famed fashion designer Betsy Johnson, who designs a dress for her makeover reveal. While getting her hair done, Sam Saboura hands Jeanene a pair of scissors and she begins to cut off the long hair that took her years to grow. Jeanene is very nervous about having her hair done. Hair colorist Kim Vo uses a technique he invented to help get rid of 12 years of hair coloring. After hair and makeup, Jeanene is ready to go home with her new "mainstream" look.
Back in Louisville, everyone is shocked by Jeanene's new look. Her sister thinks she's beautiful. She went from goth to girly. Then it was time for a surprise, Billy came into the room revealing his mini-makeover. Jeanene was really surprised by Billy's new look. Two people made over from punk rock to mainstream.
Lina has just graduated from college and is a shy and self-conscious young woman. She fears interviews and thinking one look at her and she will not get the job. She's almost 25, but she feels her body looks like her mom's. Lina feels old before her time and even dresses like it. She wants to look younger and feminine. During Lina's commencement party, one of her professors comes by to inform that she is going to "commence" a makeover.
She meets Dr. Griffin for a consultation. Lina weighs 175 lbs. and Dr. Griffin tells her that she needs to lose 30 or 40 pounds, and for now the makeover is postponed. So Lena meets with fitness expert Michael Thurmond who starts her on a strict diet and exercise regiment. After 21 days, she lost 39 inches total. Dr. Griffin came by to see the results. When weighing Lina, the scale shows she lost 20 pounds. Michael told Dr. Griffin that Lina has gained muscle even though the target was to lose 30 to 40 pounds. Dr. Griffin decides to go for it, and the surgery is one the following day.
Lina's surgery included:
- Upper lip scar revision
- Liposuction of the chin
- Liposuction of the abs
- Liposuction of the thighs
- Breast lift

For liposuction of the back and thighs, Dr. Griffin uses liposelection, a new technique where just the fat is melted and does not bring as much damage to the skin. Using the fat from the liposuction, Dr. Griffin injects it into the buttocks. Lina has had nose surgery before and so Dr. Griffin rebuilds the nose from the base up. He spent about three hours on the nose.
Lina also receives LASIK eye surgery to help improve her vision.
A week later, it was time to take the bandages off. The nose was the hardest part for Dr. Griffin, but it turned out better than expected.
Now it was time for Lina to get her smile makeover from Dr. Dorfman. The braces were taken off, teeth whitened and porcelain veneers were placed to give Lina a winning smile.
Lina was ready for the final touches. Stylist Sam Saboura helped Lina work on her style to help her get ready to enter the workforce. Then finally, hair and makeup stylists got Lina ready for her big reveal.
At the reveal, Sam is wearing a cap and gown and introduces Lina to her friends and family. She now walks with confidence and feels good. Lina is ready to "commence" with her career.
