Now he teaches others how to figure skate. Lately, it has been heart break for Mike. He was engaged to a girl, and they were supposed to be married and thought everything was perfect. However, a few days before Mike's fiancé postponed the wedding, then after that, she broke up with him. Then one day, some former students came by to tell Mike that he was chosen to be a part of the Extreme Makeover™ television show.

The chin also receives liposuction and an implant is placed. Later, Mike received dental work from cosmetic dentist Dr. Bill Dorfman.
Mike's bandages are off a week later. Looking at the nose, it is straight and has no hump. Dr. Fisher exceeded his expectations. While at the doctor's office, Mike gets a call from ex-fiancé that she is engaged to someone else. Mike is in tears.
The next stop on the makeover is a visit with Dr. Robert Maloney. It is difficult for Mike to see street signs and license plates. Dr. Maloney performs LASIK eye surgery to give Mike perfect vision. Fitness expert Michael Thurmond puts Mike on a dieting and exercise plan that will help give him a hard body. Throughout these sessions, Mike's shape is changing tremendously. He lost 21 pounds and added over 40 inches of muscle.

Tonight's other candidate is Tess, a former beauty queen who wants to return to her beauty queen look. Tess lives in Florida, 44 years old, Filipina, and a single mother of three children. Her pregnancies have left her body in shambles, including a huge cesarean scar on her abdomen. Tess looks at her nose and wants a bridge. She also looks at her small bottom and because of that she never wears jeans. Tess wants to look and feel sexy. The relationship between Tess and her daughter is more like sisters. Tess is young at heart, but with an old appearance. She works as a human resources manager at a large hotel. Then one day, Tess was given an award at work, it was eight weeks off so that Tess could go on the Extreme Makeover™ television show.
In LA, Tess is picked up by a limousine and taken to the Makeover Mansion. She is ready for her journey, which begins the next day at the office of plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Perlman. Dr. Perlman wants Tess to look better and feel better, while maintaining her Filipina look. The doctor can give Tess that bridge and re-shape her nostrils, refining her nose, and maintain ethnic features. Tess also feels a little "cheeky," so Dr. Perlman will remove some cheek fat to shape the cheeks, but won't do it aggressively and take out too much fat. During the consultation, they also discuss removing extra skin and fat from eyes, adding breast implants and removing a lot of skin in belly. Surgery can only do so much. The real work is up to fitness expert Michael Thurmond and Tess. She is not used to exercising real hard. Michael Thurmond sees that Tess' family has a history of high blood pressure, heart attacks and stroke. Not only does Michael Thurmond want Tess to look better, but he also wants her to get her blood pressure and cholesterol down and prevent Tess from suffering what her family suffered.
The next day is surgery. Tess is in tears before going into surgery, and nervous about the pain she will have to endure. So, she calls her daughter for comfort. Tess undergoes two surgeries. Dr. Perlman starts by performing a nose job to give Tess a more refined nose. Next was liposuction of the arms, hips and thighs. Fat pads were removed, a chin implant was placed, and so were breast implants, the tummy tucked, upper and lower eye lift. Fat is injected around the eyes and mouth. Dr. Perlman's work is done, but the final results are weeks away.
The first night after surgery was rough; Tess was congested and felt like she could not breathe. She likes to be up doing things, and not laying in bed. She can't wait to be old energetic self. Three days after surgery, Tess was back at Dr. Perlman's office to have her bandages removed. She looks in mirror, and sees the bridge on her nose. Tess sees a difference in her nose. Dr. Perlman also thinks that Tess does look younger. A few subtle changes were made without changing the ethnic features.
Next up for Tess was a visit with dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban. Tess has little spots on the skin, which are keratosis. These are little benign growths on the neck. Dr. Shamban removes these spots using an electric needle, which feels like little bee stings. During Tess' makeover, Michael Thurmond has her perform butt exercises so that she can gain more of a behind. In four weeks, Tess lost 25 pounds and lost over 30 inches from her body. She dropped from a size 12 to a size 6.
Tess has been in LA for six weeks. It has been very hard for her and she misses her family. Tess watches video from her family, and this is an emotional time for her. She then calls her daughter Lauren. But what Tess does not know is that Lauren is in LA to surprise her. Extreme Team style expert Sam Saboura shows up to provide Tess with some fashion tips and a new wardrobe. Tess thinks she is going to meet a top LA fashion designer, but Lauren is the one waiting at the clothing store. Sam lets the two dress each other. Now Lauren and Tess are truly more like sisters, than mother and daughter. Then Lauren returns to Florida and will not see her mom until the final reveal.
Before getting the final touches, Sam has a surprise for Tess; he informs her that the reveal will be at the Disney Polynesian resort. Now it was time for final touches. Tess does not like her boring color, hair colorist Kim Vo can help. Tess also gets extensions, which she just loves. She also tells the makeup artist that she wants to look a little mysterious but natural and have some smoky eyes. When it was time to look into the mirror, Tess was surprised and felt like, 25 years have vanished. Now it was time to go back to Florida for the reveal.
With friends and family waiting, a canoe takes Tess to the Polynesian resort. Aloha dancers are there for the ceremony. Tess came walking onto the stage having such an adrenaline rush. Last season, Paula was a wife and mother, looking forward to starting school again to become a teacher. However, Paula was also feeling a little self-conscious about her appearance, especially her breasts. Fortunately, Paula was chosen to be a part of the Extreme Makeover™ television show. Through her experience on the show, she went from a small A cup to a full B. A few months after surgery, Paula started noticing a hardening in her breast implants. She was suffering from capsular contracture, which happens in about 15% of all breast augmentation cases.
Paula went to Houston to meet with a plastic surgeon closer to home. She met with Dr. Fred Aguilar, one of the finest plastic surgeons in the country. Breast implants are placed under or over the chest muscle. Paula originally had her breast implants over the muscles originally. Paula needed another surgery, moving the implant to a new location. A week after the surgery, Dr. Aguilar meets with Paula again and thinks her prognosis is good. Paula is once again looking forward to her new life.
