Extreme Makeover - Season 1, Episode 2

On this week s episode of Extreme Makeover the television series, we follow the lives of Melissa, a 28-year-old waitress from Sacramento, CA and David, a 38-year-old member of the National Guard from Farmville, VA. These are the next two applicants who have been chosen to have their lives changed by receiving a makeover.

These two individuals both have their reasons for wanting this makeover opportunity. Melissa wants to impress her former classmates at her 10-year high school reunion. David feels that he was passed over for a promotion as a recruiting officer because of his looks. Well their makeover will include various procedures, including a plastic surgery operation performed by Dr. Garth Fisher, M.D., F.A.C.S.


For Melissa, Dr. Fisher performed various cosmetic surgery procedures including:

  • Nose job (Rhinoplasty)
  • Ear surgery (Otoplasty)
  • Breast implants
  • Brow lift
  • Tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Other procedures were also performed on Melissa. Dr. William Dorfman, D.D.S. had Melissa s teeth whitened and straightened. Also Dr. Robert Maloney performed Lasik eye surgery on Melissa.

However Melissa s makeover was not yet complete. Personal trainer Michael Thurmond, creator of the "Six Week Body Makeover," helped her get into shape. Celebrity fashion stylist Vincent Boucher provided fashion tips. Then celebrity hair stylist Corey Powell provided Melissa with a new hairstyle and celebrity makeup artist Sharon Gault did makeup. Now Melissa was ready to show her new image at her high school reunion.


David s surgical makeover from Dr. Fisher included:

  • Nose job
  • Brow lift
  • Upper and lower eye lifts
  • Chin augmentation
  • Neck lift

David also received a teeth whitening and porcelain veneers courtesy of Dr. William Dorfman, D.D.S.

Now the body was complete, but the new look was far from over. Fitness trainer Michael Thurmond helped get him into better shape. Next was fashion tips from wardrobe stylist Vincent Boucher. Then celebrity hair stylist Corey Powell and celebrity makeup artist Sharon Gault provided hair and makeup to complete David s makeover.
