Susan and Michael
This is a special episode of Extreme Makeover the television series because it involves a love story, a couple makeover, and a wedding. Susan and Michael had been dating for two years after meeting in a group for overeaters. Both were chubby when they were younger, and since then have lost the weight. However they are both still unhappy with certain aspects of their appearance. Not only do they have their own wants for cosmetic surgery, but both feel like losing the weight has left behind some damage on their appearance. Susan feels her body is deflated after losing all that weight and it has effected her self-esteem. Plus she wants to look younger, especially since she is ten years older than Michael. Michael is unhappy with his profile especially his nose and chin. Also he still wants his breasts reduced and his back hair removed. This is why the couple sent a video of themselves asking to both be selected for the Extreme Makeover television series. Then during a double birthday party for both Susan and Michael, they got the news they were both selected for the show.

The couple traveled to Los Angeles and both Susan and Michael would have the same plastic surgeon, Dr. Jon Perlman, MD, FACS. First was Susan's consultation, and basically she wanted work done on her face and body. She feels the bags under her eyes make her look tired and would like the big bump in her nose to be flattened. Dr. Perlman said he could help by making the nose look more feminine and to place an implant in the chin. The doctor also will help fix Susan's breasts, which she feels are small and deflated. Finally a tummy tuck to take care of the large amount of loose skin around the abdomen.

As far as Michael's consultation with Dr. Perlman, he asked the doctor help with his profile. The doctor said he could help Michael with his chin with a chin implant, straighten out the nose. Dr. Perlman also told Michael he can take off the loose skin in the breast and abdomen. Both Susan and Michael were ready for surgery.

Susan's surgical procedures included:

Breast augmentation from an A cup to a C cup

Michael's surgical procedures included:

Chin implant
Nose job
Liposuction of the abdomen, chest, hips and neck
Male breast reduction Fat pad removed from cheeks
Fat injections to cheekbones

Before going into surgery, there were some surprises in store for both Susan and Michael. The first surprise came when Michael presented Susan with a birthday present, an engagement ring. Michael proposed to Susan, and she accepted. The next surprise came from the show's producer, when he came by with an announcement to the couple. Susan and Michael are going to have an all expense paid wedding and honeymoon at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. However, the next surprise was that the two would be separated for the duration of the makeover and would not see each other until they reach the altar on their wedding day.

Susan was the first to undergo surgery. During surgery Dr. Perlman made a pocket to place the chin implant, then removed extra skin and fat around the eyelids, the next step was to enhance balance between the chin and nose. Dr. Perlman refined the profile of her nose. Next was the facelift, during which he elevated skin from the right side of the cheek. Finally, Dr. Perlman worked on the breast augmentation by enhancing Susan's breast to a C cup size. Susan was ready to recover from her day of surgery.

The next morning, it was Michael's turn. For Michael, Dr. Perlman took the large bump away from his nose. Then placed a chin implant and performed neck liposuction in order to improve Michael's profile. After completing, the other procedures, Michael's surgery was complete.

After a few days, Susan and Michael each paid a visit to Dr. Perlman's office for a look at the results. For Michael, he feels his profile looks amazing. Susan feels her results were better than expected and finally has a flat stomach. There were some complications with Susan's healing. The incision from her tummy tuck was not healing properly. However, after a week, she was better.

Then while Susan was making wedding plans, Michael paid a visit to Dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban's office. This was to remove the hair from Michael's back. He would have to undergo a series of laser hair removal treatments for permanent results.

Next was a visit from fashion stylist Sam Saboura, who would help Susan pick out her wedding dress and bridesmaid outfits, and help Michael pick out a tuxedo.

Then came another cosmetic procedure for the couple, this time it was LASIK eye surgery from Dr. Robert Maloney. Susan's eyesight was actually worse than Michael. In fact, without her glasses, she could be considered legally blind. After surgery, their vision improved to almost 20/20 vision.

After getting their hair and makeup done, Susan and Michael were ready to get married.

Susan and Michael had been apart for seven weeks, but now they were about to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. At the wedding, Michael was the first to reveal his new look to the wedding guests. Then stepped aside to let Susan walk down the aisle with her veil covering her new look. Michael came by and lifted the veil to reveal to himself and everyone else, Susan's new appearance. They were so glad to see each other again, and then proceeded with the ceremony. Susan and Michael were able to have their fairly tale wedding and honeymoon, as well as begin a whole new life together with their new appearance.
