On the season premiere of Extreme Makeover™ the television series, we follow the stories of Dan, Caroline, and Catherine. Dan is a radio producer, hoping to catch the attention of his crush. Caroline and Catherine are twin sisters, once identical, but circumstances have caused them to drift apart in their looks and their relationship with each other.

Caroline and Catherine:
Caroline and Catherine, or Cat, are two twins who were identical, but now Caroline feels like the ugly duckling. Caroline doesn t like her smile and her nose is crooked from a childhood injury. Over the years, they have become two different people and the difference in their looks has placed a wedge between them. Cat doesn t feel like the pretty one and doesn t want her sister to live this way. As far as why Cat wants this makeover is because she feels pregnancy has left its mark on her body, now she wants to gain a more appealing tummy. The two sisters travel to Los Angeles for consultations.

Extreme Makeover doctor, Dr. Garth Fisher, M.D., F.A.C.S. will be performing both Caroline and Cat s operation. First Dr. Fisher examines Caroline. He asks Caroline what she wants and she tells Dr. Fisher about the bags under her eyes and the bump on her nose. Dr. Fisher feels the main challenge about her operation will be the mouth. So he calls Dr. Bill Dorfman, D.D.S. and the two doctors will collaborate on a team effort to repair Caroline s mouth. As far as Cat s surgery, Dr. Fisher examines her tummy and suggests a tummy tuck procedure. The surgery is a go for the two sisters. Now the two sisters that have grown apart, will spend the next few weeks living together and get a second chance to reconnect with one another.

Caroline s "EXTREME MAKEOVER" surgery will include:

Dental work from Dr. Dorfman will include: 12 upper porcelain veneers, Gum recontouring and two root canals.

Cat s "EXTREME MAKEOVER" surgery will include:

Caroline is the first to have surgery. Dr. Dorfman assists Dr. Fisher in performing Caroline s surgery and their goal is prevent too much gum tissue from showing by lowering the upper lip. Then the rest of the procedures are performed, and the entire surgery takes Dr. Fisher eight hours to complete. Three days later, Cat has her day of surgery. Along with a breast lift and enlargement, Dr. Fisher performs a tummy tuck to take care of the pregnancy marks. Afterwards, Cat joins Caroline in recovery. A few days later, Dr. Dorfman performs more dental work on Caroline. Along with the lip and gum surgery performed, Dr. Dorfman performs two root canals and adds porcelain veneers. The results are a beautiful, normal and healthy smile. After a few days, Cat and Caroline meet with Dr. Fisher to check on their results. He examines the tummy and breasts on both sisters and the results of the surgery are good.

Next for the twins is a visit from the show s regular stylist, Sam Saboura, who takes them on a shopping spree around L.A. For Cat, Sam wants her to be more sophisticated while Caroline needs to be more sexy and he helps the two pick out a wardrobe that will help them do that. For their last stop, Sam takes the twins to hair stylists Jennifer J and her husband Sean J. Jennifer turns their red hair color to a chocolate brown to help bring out their skin tone and their gorgeous features. Next Sean J styles their hair, the twins want to look similar but not identical for their reveal. Finally Caroline and Cat are ready to reveal their new looks to their friends and family.

At a San Jose, California mansion, the two sisters hold their reveal party. When the reveal themselves, their friends and family were in tears, especially Caroline s husband. He wanted to make sure it was still Caroline on the inside. Caroline s physical appearance has changed, but she is still the same person. Being on Extreme Makeover the television series has given Caroline and Cat a second chance to be twins again.

Dan:
Dan is a 40-year-old single father from Seattle, Washington. He comes from a broken marriage, which caused him to "hibernate" for 8 years and just let himself fall apart. Then he met Ann, his assistant, and simply fell in love with her. However she does not have the same feelings for him and thinks of Dan as just a friend. Dan wants this makeover to help start a new relationship, hopefully with Ann. Then while on the air, the news announcer at Dan s radio station announced that he was chosen as a participant in Extreme Makeover the television series. Dan hopes he will return to Ann with a new look and a new lifestyle.

Dan s eight-week journey begins at the office of Dr. Jon Perlman, M.D., F.A.C.S. Dan tells Dr. Perlman that he wants to see the person he is on the inside. Dan wants to get rid of the roundness of his face. Dr. Perlman tells Dan he will try to make his face more angular by augmenting the cheeks, plus make the chin wider using an implant. Plus liposuction will also be performed during surgery.

Dan s "EXTREME MAKEOVER" surgery will include:

Chin implant
Facial reshaping
Liposuction on the face, chest, belly and love handles

During surgery, Dr. Perlman performs facial contouring on Dan. First by placing the chin implant then repads the upper cheek and lip area with fat. The surgery only takes a few hours to perform. Dr. Perlman feels that Dan will still be himself, but now will look slimmer and more masculine. Ten days after surgery, Dr. Perlman removes Dan bandages. Dan likes his new look and says he looks like an action star. Now comes the next challenging phase of his makeover, changing his lifestyle.

Dan has an action hero face, now he wants an action hero body. He works on his diet and workout regiment with the help of fitness expert Michael Thurmond. Beverly Hills stylist Sam Saboura helps him change his wardrobe from tie-dye shirts and sandals to one that will help him show off his new body. Now it was time for Dan to go home to his co-workers and Ann. At his reveal, Ann was shocked by change in Dan s appearance. Dan felt that everyday on the treadmill was worth the look he saw on Ann s face. Most of the girls at the reveal said he looked hot. When Ann was asked about Dan s chances to be with her, she was playing coy. Dan s makeover is complete, but his story is far from over. Will the changes that Extreme Makeover the television series has given Dan be enough to win the heart of the girl Dan s had a crush on?
