Dr. Matlock

Despite the fact that Dr. David Matlock is having the time of his life, dating numerous women with no commitments, his daughter Jessica desperately wants him to settle down with one woman. To try to get him to be more monogamous, his daughter sets up a “dating game party” where he will pick a girl for her personality, and not her appearance. The game is hosted by another fellow doctor of Dr. 90210 – Dr. Will Kirby. Unfortunately, for Jessica, the women weren’t Dr. Matlock’s type and he confirms that he will stick with his dating style, saying, “I’m seeing six women. What’s wrong with that?”

In addition to Dr. Matlock’s crazy love life, his friends are also important to him. One comrade in particular, actress/ comedian Kym Whitley, keeps the surgeon on his toes. To get material for her next comedy skit, Kym decides to meet with Dr. Matlock in his office to learn more about vaginal rejuvenation.

“I love Dr. Matlock. He’s so much fun,” Kym explained of their chemistry. After learning about his work, she is ready for her show. With Dr. Matlock in the audience, she humorously talks about him and his line of work. The jokes seemed to entertain everyone, including Dr. Matlock: “I thought Kym’s stand-up was absolutely fantastic!”

Patient #1: Greta
Surgeon: Dr. Gary Motykie
Procedures: Breast Reconstruction Surgery

Upon the first introduction of Greta, viewers are able to see what a strong, courageous woman she is. A breast cancer survivor who has had a mastectomy and nine previous breast surgeries, she is looking for “natural breasts.” Her goal is to have her saline implants, which she says don’t look or feel like real breasts, removed and replaced with better implants. Greta wants to feel like a woman again after fighting cancer, “I intend to take back my life and my femininity.”

Determined to not let her breast cancer ordeal get the best of her, Greta is devoted to living life to the fullest. “The fact is you have to fight,” she explained. “You have to want to live.” Her current breasts cause horrible muscle spasms that have spread throughout her body. After surgery, Greta looks forward to living pain-free. She is excited for what will hopefully be her last breast procedure, saying, “I have decided that I want Carmen Electra breasts!

Pre-Op Visit: After undergoing many previous breast surgeries, Greta feels that Dr. Motykie has the skills to make this procedure her last. “I feel so confident after meeting with Dr. Motykie that he is going to do the very best job and that I can put this behind me.” He is also happy to be helping Greta through her journey. He said, “I feel it’s an honor and a privilege to help women like her get their lives back and move on from breast cancer.”

Surgery: Stage 1: An incision is made through a previous surgical incision in the areola. The skin is paper thin so Dr. Motykie has to move with precision. The implant and scar tissue are removed from the right breast. Stage 2: Excess breast tissue is removed by liposuction on the side of her breast (in between the breast and under arm). This will help create a more natural and youthful appearance. Stage 3: The breast pocket is reshaped with internal sutures. These will make the breast rest higher on the chest and look more “real.” Stage 4: The silicone gel implant, measuring 800 ccs is inserted through the nipple incision, completes the procedures on her right breast. Next, these exact steps are performed on the left side.

Total Surgery Time: 4 Hours 35 Minutes

Just one day after her surgery, Greta can sense the improvements. Not even seeing her breasts yet, she said, “I already feel a difference.” Excited to see the results, Dr. Motykie removes her bandages to reveal a new set of breasts. Of course they will need time to heal and settle in place, but both the doctor and patient are delighted with the way they look. “Thank you for ending this horrible situation,” Greta sincerely said to her surgeon.

A True Survivor

Greta and Dr. Motykie are reunited two months later at the “Celebration of Life Pageant.” At this event, he is being honored for the help he provided to Greta. “The results are amazing,” she said of her experience. “I cannot believe how life-changing the surgery has been for me.” Upon receiving his award, Dr. Motykie dedicated it to Greta and the rest of the survivors because of the courage and strength that they possess.

She explained of her surgery, “The best part of this experience is that I truly feel like a survivor now. I feel normal again.”

Patient #2: Violet
Surgeon: Dr. David Matlock
Procedures: Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

After giving birth to a 10-pound child, and then a 12-pound baby, Violet has experienced damage to her vagina. It also seemed to strain her relationship with her fiancé (the father of her children). “As a woman, you keep it locked up inside and don’t mention it to anybody,” Violet described of how she dealt with her vaginal problem. After living with the discomfort for 11 years, she is now ready to do something to correct it. Violet has selected to undergo laser vaginal rejuvenation performed by Dr. David Matlock.

Pre-Op Visit: Despite that fact that Violet has kept this dilemma to herself for over a decade, Dr. Matlock makes her feel better by explaining that she is not alone. “It’s a very big problem,” he explained to her. The examination of Violet confirms that she will be an “excellent candidate.” Violet is ready to undergo the surgery and feel more comfortable with her body once again, saying, “I am very excited. He’s going to be able to make me feel like I am 18 again!”

Surgery: Stage 1: Dr. Matlock uses a laser to open the skin inside of the vagina. Once the underlying muscles are exposed, he tightens them and places the first sutures. Stage 2: Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is stitched back up. At this point Dr. Matlock explains of this skin, “We want that nice and tight too.” These sutures that were sewn in are dissolvable and don’t require any removal. Stage 3: The last step consists of repairing and closing the perineum (the area between the bottom of the vagina and the top of the anus). The last stitches are put in, completing the surgery.

Total Surgery Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes

A Tightened Relationship

Two months after her surgery, Violet and her fiancé are both satisfied with the results. They are able to have a stronger physical bond and an improved relationship overall. The lack of intimacy that they once experienced is no longer a problem. Because, as Violet explained: “I feel comfortable with my body and I feel a lot more confident.”

Patient #3: Chris Knight
Surgeon: Dr. Will Kirby
Procedures: Laser Hair Removal

Business partner of Dr. Will Kirby, Chris Knight (better known as “Peter Brady”), decides to turn to his friend for hair removal. Dr. Kirby helps nudge Chris into it a little saying, “No one likes weird hairy guys!” The two have a comical relationship and interact well with one another, so Chris feels comfortable letting Dr. Kirby perform this procedure on him. “Luckily there are people like Will Kirby to remind us guys to look well-groomed,” he joked.

Surgery: Stage 1: Chris’s external hair is trimmed. This is done so that the laser will more effectively target the root of the hair. Stage 2: The laser is applied to the areas where the hair bulb is to be destroyed. The back and front of the neck, between the eyebrows, around the sideburn areas, in the ears, and also the nose, are all treated. The laser makes a quick red flash in each area and the process is complete.

“I smell the burning hair, “Chris said following the procedure. Dr. Kirby explained that this is a normal reaction and predicts that, “After 10 to 14 days, Chris is going to be hair-free.”

A Bare Brady

Two weeks after his laser treatment, Chris and Dr. Kirby meet up at the Beverly Hills Hot Springs for a business meeting and some relaxation. Admitting to Dr. Kirby that he does feel more youthful since his procedure, Chris also playfully added, “I feel naked!” Yet more seriously, he confirmed, “I’ve noticed that I don’t have any sprouting hair.”
