Dr. 90210 - Gina

On this episode, a young mother (Gina) wants to regain her figure, while Dr. Rey and his family continues to prepare for their new arrival.

GINA:

Gina is a 23-year-old mother from Torrance, CA. She had a baby when she was 19 years old. During her pregnancy her stomach just got huge. Gina had to have a cesarean since the baby was so big, it couldn’t pass through. Since her pregnancy, she hadn’t been able to dress in the way she wants, including wearing swimsuits. Her tummy hasn’t seen daylight in five years. The skin on Gina’s stomach has stretched so much that no amount of exercise can take care of that. So Gina is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her life, which starts with undergoing a tummy tuck. This is a procedure she has been wanting for three years. The tummy tuck will be performed by plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Yamini.

Dr. Yamini is a former student of Dr. Richard Ellenbogen’s prestigious advanced aesthetic postgraduate fellowship program. Now he works as one of Dr. Ellenbogen’s associates. At Dr. Yamini’s office, Gina has a consultation with the doctor. The doctor informed her that he would be removing all that excess skin. She is energetic and has the right attitude about surgery.

Then on the day of surgery, Gina was a little nervous. She was wondering more about the end result rather than the pain. Gina has another talk with Dr. Yamini before undergoing surgery. He informs her that he can easily remove all that extra skin, and that her tattoo on her stomach will be removed since it is on that area of excess skin. During the surgery, Dr. Yamini pulls down and removes the extra skin. With the remaining skin, a new hole is cut, creating a new belly button. The end result will make Gina’s tummy tighter, making it look like she’s been doing sit-ups all day. Dr. Yamini shows the excess skin that was removed and the tattoo on that piece of skin.

Gina wakes with Dr. Yamini there and telling her that everything went well. Gina’s mom was also there and she was surprised by the results, she was very thankful to the doctor. Gina will be more appreciative when she is clear headed.

Two weeks later, Gina comes back to Dr. Yamini’s office for a post-op check-up. She brought a picture of her pregnant belly to show the doctor. The picture and how huge Gina’s belly was shocked Dr. Yamini. It helped explain the large amount of excess skin. Dr. Yamini sees that belly button and the scar has healed nicely. He now sees a belly button, instead of loose fat. The doctor was happy with the surgery, the results, and Gina’s recovery.

Some time later and Gina is at Las Vegas celebrating her friend’s 24th birthday and her surgery. She had a good time. Gina was able to wear a bikini for the first time in years. She is feeling much happier with herself and the way she looks.

DR. REY

Dr. Rey explains that after going through pregnancy many women go through a tummy tuck because it is the only answer to restore their tummy. A pregnancy will ravage a woman’s body. Even Hayley, Dr. Rey’s wife, says if she has stretch marks, she wants a tummy tuck.

Tae kwon do is psychiatry for Dr. Rey; it helps him get all tension out. Plastic surgery is a high stress job; even the other physicians on Dr. 90210 explain their stress relieving practices, which includes working out, golfing and other activities. At Dr. Rey’s house, he woke up late for tae kwon do, which caused him to be late in coming home so that he could watch over his daughter Sydney while Hayley could go to her hair appointment. When she left for her appointment, Sydney was crying, so Hayley cancelled her appointment and stayed home. She was quite upset as a result.

Later in the show, Hayley goes shopping in Beverly Hills, something she likes to do. She spent around $4,000 on baby items. Back at the house, Dr. Rey comes home late, but earlier than his usual time of 11:00 p.m. Hayley shows him all the stuff she bought for the new baby. Dr. Rey still can’t get used to the fact that he’s having a boy. He doesn’t know how to raise a boy, but hopes to be a good dad to him.
