Dr. Robert Rey

It's finally time to say farewell! But for Hayley Rey, leaving behind their first home is more difficult than she had imagined. Boxes are packed and loaded as Hayley roams the empty rooms to soak up every last memory - tears and all. Amongst the bittersweet move to their multi-million house, which is settled conveniently closer to Dr. Rey's practice, there is a new addition to their family! A white German shepherd arrives just in time. After much research, Dr. Rey says that the "ferocious guard dog" is perfect to protect their family in their new home, yet should be great with kids and other pets. Now if they can only get it to stop biting!

Dr. Linda Li

Dr. Li is finally balancing her plastic surgery practice and time spent with little Max. But it isn't easy! Even though taking a break and catching a few moments here and there at the office with him, she says that she really just wants to stay home with her baby. The enjoyment of being first-time parents is now inspiring Dr. Li and her husband Bill to have another child. With her biological clock ticking, they both realize that if Max gets a little brother or sister, now is the best time to get started. In order to begin the new process, they visit her ob-gyn Dr. Allison Hill for a pap smear. Once everything comes back healthy for Dr. Li, it's baby-making time!

Patient #1:
Cholo

Procedure:

Earlobe reconstruction

Surgeon: Dr. Robert Rey

A ripped earlobe brings 28-year-old Cholo to Dr. Robert Rey. As a body piercer from San Bernardino, Calif., he loves to stand out in a crowd. With a face full of tribal tattoos, a pierced septum, and a friendly personality, Cholo is eager to have earlobe reconstructive surgery on his left ear after it tore from the stretching of an oversized plug. So Cholo's goal is to have it repaired so he can put another plug in. Working out of a tattoo shop, he is dedicated to maintaining his unique image. He admits to the challenge of finding a good doctor to work on his ear, because he has yet to come across anyone who can repair it to where he can re-stretch it again.

Then enters Dr. Rey.

Cholo's pre-op visit gives him hope, especially after learning that earlobe reconstruction is common in plastic surgery. However, Dr. Rey admits that this is the most significant tearing that he's ever seen. Because Cholo wants to eventually re-stretch his ear with a new plug, Dr. Rey explains that technically, he is going to reattach it instead of performing reconstructive work. But he explains to Cholo that his ear will never have the same elasticity or strength as it did before. Dr. Rey says that he must be gentle, and that the next plug he puts in should not be nearly as big as before. He understands Cholo's individuality; telling him that his piercing and tattoos are very common among the natives in Brazil dating back hundreds of years. Dr. Rey also considers himself to be unique and states, "To each his own."

The day of surgery has come, and with the supportive presence of his mother, Cholo goes under. Dr. Rey starts his surgery by making a cut at an angle, so when the ear is reattached it is stronger. He says that Cholo's ear is bleeding well, and after stitching the ear pieces back together, he says everything came out good and that his circulation is fine. After waking from surgery, Cholo admits that he is surprised at how painless the experience was. Dr. gives him a rundown of recovery instruction, including to not lying on the left side, and tells him to take it easy.

Four days later, Dr. Rey sees Cholo and is amazed that his ear has healed so quickly. Both are extremely pleased with the results. But before he leaves, Dr. Rey points out the danger in keeping a bar pierced in his septum. He says that the vascular tissue will soon weaken, and it will rip. Although Dr. Rey says that he would be able to repair his nose as well - prevention is key. Cholo needs to watch it!

Six weeks later, he is feeling great and much more confident. His buddies in the tattoo and piercing industry are especially impressed with Dr. Rey's work. At a get-together with friends, he enjoys the compliments and can't wait to re-stretch his earlobe.

Patient #2:
Melodye and Ileane

Procedure:

Breast implants, liposuction, fat injection in the face

Surgeon: Dr. Linda Li

For 49-year-old identical twins Melodye and Ileane, cosmetic surgery is something that they've been wanting for a long time. And with their birthday around the corner, they are giving themselves the ultimate gift of breast implants, liposuction, and fat injections with Dr. Li. Melodye and Ileane have both been married for 23 years, have husbands who are best friends, and now want identical procedures to keep things on a roll!

Melodye is a group fitness instructor who says that since she's gotten older her body has changed. She wants to not only look and feel better in her clothes, but wants to uphold her image in an industry that values "looking good." Ileane, who is slightly heavier, says that she exercises all the time, but is frustrated with excess fat stuck on her body. She looks forward to liposuction and the fat transfer procedure, but when it comes to breast augmentation, she does not feel comfortable getting implants despite wishing they were perkier. Yet with a little shove from Melodye, Ileane eventually hops on board for new breasts.

Dr. Li meets with both of them during a pre-op visit. She evaluates their bodies, and says that they are both ideal candidates for liposuction because they are not overweight in the least - they just have excess pockets of fat on their lower region.

Melodye tries on the implants under her bra, and says that she wants a full B. Dr. Li admits that most women fear of going too big, and in her experience, no one really wishes they went smaller; some wish they went even bigger. So with a determined Melodye influencing Ileane to do the same, she eventually caves in. On the day of surgery, she makes her announcement. Ileane's reasoning is that she does not want anything to come in the way of her and Melodye's body similarities, and she knows if she passes this up, she may have regrets down the road. The twins cannot wait to wear a bathing suit with their new body!

Their surgery stages are also identical. For both of them, Dr. Li starts off with breast augmentation through the nipple using an "L-shaped" incision, dividing the muscle tissue. To give them similar breast sizes, Dr. Li makes the necessary adjustments. Because Ileane is a little heavier, she has more surrounding tissue. So Dr. Li inserts a small implant, filled up to 210 cc. Melodye's implants, on the other hand, are filled up to 240 cc. The twins both reach a full B/small C. Then it's on to liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, and outer and inner thighs. Dr. Li removes a larger amount of fat from Ileane's body, because she is heavier and has more of a pouch. Melodye, on the other hand, has more fat in the saddlebag area. Dr. Li comments that although they are identical, they carry their fat in different places. Lastly she uses the fat from liposuction to inject into their nasolabial folds to plump up facial creases. Both Melodye and Ileane's surgery time approximated two hours.

A week later, the twins go to Dr. Li for a post-op visit. Melodye says that a day later she was up and about, feeling like she could have gone and taught her fitness class. Ileane, on the other hand, was bruised a bit from the liposuction procedure, but Dr. Li reassures her that it will get better. And once they are both healed, we see them getting ready for a night out wearing sexy clothes and feeling more confident than ever. It was a happy birthday, and Melodye and Ileane admit that they would do it all over again!
