Dr. Robert Rey

Family matters to Dr. Robert Rey. With the urge of his wife Hayley, Dr. Rey gets a new 'do and starts spending more quality time with his family. Saturdays and Sundays have become his days of relaxation. With a baby boy and young daughter keeping Hayley busy while Dr. Rey works long hours, his desire for another child hardly excites Hayley. Even after bouncing back from her pregnancies with an amazing bikini-body, the last thing she seems to want right now is to have another child. Being a stay-at-home mom with three children is not on her agenda right now. Therefore, to protect herself from getting pregnant for the third time, she decides to go back on birth control. Meanwhile, Dr. Rey is still encountering the daily challenges of plastic surgery, balancing his family responsibilities with that of his career, and doing his best to stay in shape.

Dr. Linda Li

The title of this episode gives light to Dr. Linda Li's hardworking behavior – "Busy as a Li." She is seven months pregnant and running around as much as ever, but her body has changed probably more than she realized. Exhaustion kicks in when she gets home. Still, from shopping for new maternity clothes and trying to get enough rest at night to preserve her energy for surgery, the doctor and her husband are excited to learn the sex of their baby. Dr. Bill Fulcher, who is also Dr. Li's anesthesiologist, is concerned about his wife's health and how much work she continues to take on. He says that she should start prioritizing her time. Besides anticipation of their first child, the duo is also eager for the completion of their new facility; they are building out their practice into their own office. So temporarily they are sharing their work space with a young doctor in his office. Excitement builds up when Dr. Li and her husband go in for an ultrasound with obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Cliff Bochner, but the show ends with suspense... is she carrying a boy or a girl?

Dr. Paul Nassif

Facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif makes his appearance on Dr. 90210 for the first time. He puts his 20,000 sq. ft, 9-bedroom home in Beverly Hills on display, proving that he is one doctor who is living large. Married to Adrienne Maloof, whose family owns the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas and the Sacramento Kings, Dr. Nassif is committed to his wife, his practice, and the patients he treats. He specializes in revision surgery and rhinoplasty for ethnic noses. Dr. Nassif is dedicated to tailoring results that will look in proportion to their original, racial features. He says that he is the last doctor a patient should have to go to for surgery.

Patient #1:

Surgeon: Dr. Rey

Breast Augmentation

For 39-year-old celebrity and glamour photographer Analee of Las Vegas, Nev., breast augmentation surgery has become a procedure she is passionate about. She photographs adult film stars, playboy models, and penthouse girls day-in and day-out, as well as becoming close friends with them in the process. Analee admits that her desire to feel sexier has probably been influenced from being surrounded by such beautiful bodies. She says she's always been a sort of tomboy and "motorcycle chick." Now she is ready for a new start.

When Analee goes in for her pre-op visit with Dr. Rey, she brings along friend and adult film star Carmen Luvana. Carmen's presence is not only for moral support, but to give Dr. Rey a live example of how Analee wants her new breasts to look – 450 cc. Dr. Rey admits that her original breasts don't really seem to match her frame and believes that 450 cc would give her the look she's going for. He suggests that the surgery be performed through the belly button because there will be no visible scars, and that Analee has the right type of skin for that incision and placement.

But challenges arose out-of-the-blue for Dr. Rey. Analee never mentioned that she previously had liposuction, so Dr. Rey had a struggle in getting past the scarred tissue from her naval to her breasts. The problem struck at the wrong moment – once the gloves went on and Analee was down. At first, he tried a dissector to make a tunnel, but his instrument couldn't get through. Then he created two pockets to put the implants into, with the use of a camera that was able to get underneath the muscle; shooting pictures of the muscle from behind as he moved along. This way works out best, and Dr. Rey completes the surgery feeling confident in his work.

About a month later, Analee is ecstatic with her new breasts; hamming it up for the camera and then heading out for an evening of dancing in Las Vegas. But not before she apologizes to Dr. Rey during her post-op visit. She says that she got liposuction so long ago that she actually didn't think about it during her pre-op visit. Whoops!

Patient #2:

Surgeon: Dr. Nassif

Revision Rhinoplasty

Cynthia, a 31-year-old from Monrovia, Calif., grew up ridiculed for her cleft lip as a result of a birth defect. Now, after three corrective operations she is ready for number four. So she's off to see Dr. Paul Nassif to have her nose become more symmetrical with her face. With an upcoming wedding to look forward to, Cynthia wants to feel beautiful when she walks down the aisle.

When meeting with Dr. Nassif, she describes her unhappiness and how the collapsed right side of her nose makes her feel like a "Picasso painting." She tells him how she was called names like "Scarface," and teased relentlessly as a child. Cynthia says she admits she never felt good about herself, and gets self-conscious even now when people look at her. Dr. Nassif analyzes her nose and the revision he will perform. He tells Cynthia that her nose will always be asymmetrical, but he can certainly make it look better – prettier and sleeker. With the support of her fiancé, their families, and her comfort with Dr. Nassif's experience, Cynthia feels ready to get the kind of nose she's always wanted.

During surgery, Dr. Nassif takes cartilage from Cynthia's ear to use for her nasal tip, removing the silicone implant that was put in her nose from a previous surgery. He says he has to "deconstruct" before he "reconstructs" her nose. He then elevates the bridge, inserts gortex, which is a lightweight, durable synthetic fiber or tissue filler to put in place of the silicone implant. After surgery, Cynthia's fiancé is by her side. She loves her results and now feels ready to get married. And once she has healed, where else would she have gone except try on dresses for the big day!
