Taissa's Story
9/29

Hi, my name is Taissa and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I wanted breast augmentation because I had never liked my breasts; they were too small. My mother had breast augmentation surgery (silicone implants) and although it had caused her a lot of problems, she has never regretted doing it.

As the years past, breast augmentation became my second concern. Due to the stress of living abroad for one year and having to move to a new city, I gained a lot of weight. I was very unhappy with the weight gain. So, breast augmentation was no longer my primary concern. I decided I wanted to have hip liposuction.

With the help of my cousin who is a plastic surgeon, I chose a good doctor in the area. During the initial consultation, I told the doctor that I had wanted to have breast augmentation and he convinced me to do both surgeries at the same time. He said that it would be safe and he gave me a lot to read so that I could better understand the procedures and the risks I was about to take.

I am a very decisive person and I make fast decisions, but I could not afford to do both procedures at the cost of $7,000. Even with a discount (since the doctor is a friend of my cousin’s) I could not afford both procedures.

On my next appointment I told the doctor that I could only afford to do one procedure. I had decided to only have the liposuction on my hips. However, he lowered the price to $5,000 for both surgeries, so I decided to do it. I left his office with a date for the surgery.

The doctor asked me to have some exams performed and he prescribed a medication that would diminish the blue on my hips. I had the exams done and the results were fine. I was ready to go.

On September 20, 1999, I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and I went to the hospital. At 6:00 a.m. the plastic surgeon arrived and the anesthesiologist was there to administer the general anesthesia. After the anesthesia I don’t remember anything. My procedure lasted for two hours. I woke up in a recovery room with a lot of pain, but I had started my period and was having cramps, so I could not distinguish one pain from another. I felt better after the nurse gave me a pain reliever.

I was taken to a hospital room where I rested for the day. Since I had lost a lot of blood during the surgery, I was very weak and could not get out of bed. I spent that night in the hospital and went home the following morning.

In the days that followed the surgery, I felt a lot of pain, especially when standing up. I felt I had an extra weight on my breasts, and my legs were all blue and sore. My mother had to help me get out of bed because I could not use my arms or legs to support myself. I had to wear compression garments for my legs, and needed assistance getting dressed.

After a week they removed my external stitches and I was able to go back to work. I could already move my arms a little bit, but I could not make wide movements, carry anything heavy or drive. After 15 days, the doctor removed all the stitches and allowed me to drive.

After one month I could go back to the gym, but I could only workout my legs. I was allowed to workout my arms after two months and after four months it was all right for me to be in the sun.

I am very happy with the results. My breasts do not look like those of Pamela Anderson, but they are very proportional to my body. I never wanted big breasts; I just wanted the right breasts for my body type. I love their new size. I know that I am committed to changing the silicone implants every 10 years, but I don’t care. I would definitely do everything again.
