Money Saving AlternativesCosmetic procedures are predicted to continue growing in popularity, especially as the majority of baby boomers reach an age where gravity and the passing of the years take a noticeable toll on faces and bodies. Although many types of traditional plastic surgeries, such as facelifts, tummy tucks, and liposuction procedures tend to create a major dent in the pocket book, certain alternatives can provide impressive results at a fraction of the cost.

Zeltiq: An Alternative to LiposuctionLiposuction has given many individuals a satisfying method of obtaining an optimal body shape, although it often comes with a high price tag. One inexpensive alternative to liposuction surgery involves a form of freezing treatment that causes the fat cells to die over a period of about six to eight weeks. Dr. Rox Anderson, a laser specialist with Harvard University and Mass General came up the Zeltiq device after studying the effects of cold on fat. This liposuction alternative is best for people who are in good shape with just a bit of extra fat. This type of therapy starts at around $700 to $750 per treatment. Most areas of the body require at least two treatments. Since a traditional liposuction procedure can set you back about $4,000, you may be able to save more than 50 percent by selecting Zeltiq as your chosen method of fat removal.

Thermage: An Alternative to Facelift Surgery -  A full face lift can help erase years of wear and tear from the most obvious facial features. Unfortunately, a full surgical facelift can be one of the more expensive types of common cosmetic surgeries, depending on the amount of work required. Thermage provides a less expensive alternative, although the results are less pronounced than those provided by a surgical lift. Thermage employs a laser device that uses a type of radio frequency. This works by heating the deeper layers of the skin, encouraging the production of collagen to form. The new collagen serves to plump up the skin and renew tissue resilience and skin tautness, reducing visible sagginess and surface wrinkling. Results may be seen after just one treatment, although some people may require additional sessions for optimal effects. The price for Thermage facial procedures ranges between $1,000 and $5,000, resulting in a nonsurgical alternative that is much less invasive and expensive than a traditional facelift, which commonly runs as high as $9,000.

Zerona: An Alternative to Tummy Tuck Surgery – Another option in body sculpting includes a type of contouring that may help take the place of a tummy tuck for some individuals. Zerona is a type of laser treatment that is used to zap fat and tighten the overlying skin. A series of treatments can help shrink the fat cells, leaving you with a thinner, trimmer waistline. Most people require about six treatments to experience optimal results. The series of Zerona treatments costs an average of $1,500 to $1,700, while a tummy tuck may cost anywhere from $5,000 to $9,000.

The amount of money you can save by choosing alternative cosmetic procedures over traditional plastic surgeries may vary greatly. Keep in mind that cost is only one factor when deciding on a cosmetic procedure. When making your decision, take into consideration the length of time the results are expected to last, the downtime involved and the ratio of satisfied patients for each procedure.
