Like medically needed surgery, there are some risks involved with cosmetic procedures. Although rare, complications may occur during recovery that might require a trip to the emergency room and admittance into the hospital. Unlike medically necessary surgery, your medical insurance will not cover your plastic surgery or treatment for complications as a result from the procedure.

Fortunately, there's a solution. CosmetAssure® is an insurance program that will pay for post-surgery medical expenses. If your cosmetic surgery was performed by a physician who's a CosmetAssure member, your medical care is covered up to 30 days after the procedure. CosmetAssure covers a variety of procedures, including:

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
• Breast Augmentation
Breast Lift
Breast Reduction
Buttock Lift
• Cheek Implants
• Chin Augmentation
Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery
• Facelift
• Lower Body Lift
• Otoplasty (ear surgery)
Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)
• Thigh Lift
• Upper Arm Lift (brachioplasty)

You must be admitted to an accredited hospital, emergency room, or surgical center for CosmetAssure to cover post-op complications. Your condition must be a result of your cosmetic procedure, medically necessary, and qualify as an approved admitting diagnosis. As previously mentioned, CosmetAssure coverage extends to 30-days from when the plastic surgery was performed.

Dr. James Kurley has been a CosmetAssure member for five years and considers it an important asset to his patients. "My practice has contracted with CosmetAssure since February 2007. Prior to this, we had an unfortunate experience following a surgical procedure performed in our facility: a hospitalization which cost our patient about $8,500 not covered by conventional insurance. CosmetAssure is a minimal cost for our patients, who have never objected; in fact, they consider it a small price to pay and appreciate that we have considered it."

CosmetAssure's extensive coverage is undeniable. For instance, the cost for hospitalization of 24 hours or more includes services of physicians and registered nurses, anesthetics and their administration, laboratory tests, oxygen and its administration, blood and blood derivatives that are not donated or replaced, and their administration, radiological procedures, and prescription drugs. Without this important program, you would be responsible for thousands of dollars in medical bills.

In order to be covered by CosmetAssure, your cosmetic surgeon must be a participating member in the program. Knowing that your doctor has you covered by CosmetAssure will provide you with added comfort and peace of mind. Visit the CosmetAssure website for more information.
